About David C. Brinkley

David Brinkley was raised in the rural community of Valdese in Burke County. He grew up in an 800 square foot house and started working with his father’s concrete business when he was eight years old. He’s been working ever since.

A high school football standout, David went to Western Carolina University to play ball and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He moved to Kings Mountain after college to begin teaching and coaching in the public schools.

In 1981, he left the teaching profession and entered the financial services industry, spending two years with two of the larger companies in the business. He subsequently formed Diversified Business Concepts and developed a substantial background and expertise in estate tax and retirement planning. The company changed names to Brinkley Financial Group in 2006. David is currently the President and owner of the company.

He is actively involved in Central United Methodist Church of Kings Mountain serving as chairman of the Endowment Fund and Finance Committee. He is also a member of the Administrative Council for Central United Methodist Church. David also serves on the Advisory Board of the Life Enrichment Center. David is a charter member and president of the Kings Mountain Touchdown Club. He served on the Board of Trustees at Gardner-Webb University.

David and his wife, Marie, reside in Kings Mountain, NC. They have three adult children, Kristie Williams (spouse Ryan), Carrie Jones (spouse Bryan), and David Jr. (spouse Alisha). He and Marie have four grandchildren, Colton Jones (4), Brinkley Jones (2), Wyatt Williams (9 months), and Parker Brinkley (2 months).
